Annual Tope en Jaco took place today, as thousands of onlookers watched horses with real Costa Rican cowboys riding them through the streets. Based on an old tradition and occurring once a year in each town in Costa Rica, Tope is a fun event for all ages.
The event draws a lot of Costa Ricans from San Jose and the Central Valley who like to come to Jaco Beach and Playa Hermosa, the gem of the Central Pacific, nearby. The new road, route 27, is now open from San Jose to Jaco and makes the trip easy.
